Mindful Movement Community Teacher (MMCT) Training

Mindful Community Teacher Training (MMCT) is designed to equip individuals to create community-centered spaces that blends indigenous wisdom with modern science to enhance holistic health and well-being , . Participants will enhance their self-care practices and extend their reach into community care through mindfulness and leadership development. Graduates of this program will have the opportunity to receive a 200-hour yoga teacher certification through Yoga Alliance empowering them to offer restorative and accessible practices for diverse groups in both virtual and in-person settings.

This curriculum-based certification training welcomes all and is ideal for current community members and individuals with the following interests: self inquiry, education (teachers, administrators, counselors), health systems, non-profit leaders, and community advocacy.

Faculty: This training will be led by Ashley Williams, M.S. C-IAYT featuring other community-centered leaders and professional faculty driving accessible, equitable and restorative health and well-being initiatives on and off the mat.

  • Wednesdays, 5:30 p to 8:00 p (Virtual)

  • Thursdays/Fridays, 6:00 p to 8:30 p (Intensive Weekends)

  • Saturdays, 11:00 a to 7:00 p

  • Sundays, 10:00 a to 5:00 p

Training Requirements: To be eligible to obtain the 200-hour RYT certification, participants are required to complete in-person and virtual training dates, 30 group classes and 3 class observations. All participants must complete required reading and writing assignments. The program concludes with a final written exam.

Location: Weekend sessions will take place in person at The Well Collective located at 13 South 13th Street, Suite 100, Richmond, Va. Weekday meetings or other scheduled meetings will take place virtually via Zoom. Service site locations will be determined. Program locations are subject to change based on need. If in-person meeting becomes prohibitive or in-accessible, then all sessions may shift to virtual based on discretion of the lead faculty.

Curriculum:

  • Mindfulness Fundamentals 

  • Embodying Yogic Philosophy (Yoga Sutras and 8 Limbs) for Daily Life

  • Meditation Techniques and Tools

  • Trauma Responsive Practices 

  • Anatomy and Asana Study (Iyengar Based Practices)

  • Introduction to Movement-Based Practices and Methodology:  Restorative, Yin, Vinyasa, Hatha, Chair, Pre and Post Natal 

  • Making Yoga Accessible

  • Creating Mindful Spaces (Schools, Communities and Work Places)

  • Community Centered Business Ethics

Payment Plans: Payment plans are determined based on program acceptance date, individual need and request.

Scholarships: In partnership with the City of Richmond Department of Community Wealth Building, city of Richmond residents that meet the eligibility criteria may qualify for a full scholarship to participate. Please email meet@thewellcollective.space for more details.

Registration: Please complete the application.  Once the application has been accepted, please submit a $350 non-refundable deposit via Mindbody.  The deposit will go towards your final total training balance.
